Bible Study

The second series of Bible Study came to an end on Thursday 20 June and there will now be a break until later in the year.  Keep checking back here for news of the new dates for series three.  If you have any ideas for future Bible Study you can submit them to: webmaster@stmarksaberdeen.org.uk.

Our first  Bible Study course under our Locum, Stiubhart MacChoille came to an end on Thursday 28 March.  We took a break for April and Easter but started a new course on Thursday 2 May 2019 and will continue weekly until Thursday 20 June.

This week, Thursday 20 June, the last in the current series, Stiubhart will be absent due to family matters but Professor Peter Grey will lead our Study in the Book of Daniel and he has prepared a short reading list and a couple of questions which are available here.

This week on Thursday 6 June and continuing on Thursday 13 June we will be looking at ‘Embracing God’ and you can download the session notes here.

Our ‘Five Things a Storm Can’t Destroy’ ran on until this week’s session on Thursday 30 May and you can still download the study notes in the following paragraph.  Remember to check back here for the new study notes for next week (6 June).  They will be available soon.

Stiubhart has provided notes for the Bible Study sessions on 16 and 23 May 2019 and you can download these here in .pdf format.  The title of the studies for these two sessions is Five Things a Storm Can’t Destroy.

The session on Thursday 9 May is a continuation of the material we looked at on Thursday 2 May and if needed you can download the relevant notes from the link in the paragraph below.

Our Bible Study session resumes next Thursday on 2 May 2019 at 7.30pm when Stiubhart MacChoille will lead us in studying ‘Choices’.  We will look at choices made by Abraham, Moses, Manasseh, Jonah, Daniel and Peter.  We will also consider the choices of Jesus as well as choices of our own.  You can download the .pdf reading list here.

Thursday 28 March is the final Bible Study of the current session.  We will break for April and Easter and meet again in May.  This week’s study will be led by Professor Peter Gray from his booklet on the Apostles’ Creed.  He will discuss the Crucifixion and the Resurrection.  The text is available on the website at the Apostles’ Creed

On Thursday 21 March we continue our exploration of some more of the unsung heroes of the Old Testament under the guidance of Stiubhart MacChoille at 7.30pm in the Session Room.

Our Bible Study this week, (Thursday 14 March 2019) will be looking at some of the ‘unsung heroes’ of the Old Testament. The reading list is shown below.

This week’s Bible Study results from our two week foray into the life of Moses. We will be discussing the Ten Commandments and the readings to look at are shown below.

Bearing in mind that Moses lived to be 120 years old last week’s Bible Study (led by Professor Peter Gray in Stiubhart’s absence) didn’t reach the end of the topic so we will continue this week, on Thursday 28 February and complete our consideration of the baby from the bullrushes.

The next Bible Study will be on Thursday 21 February at 7.30pm in the Session Room, when we will be looking at the life of Moses. The passages for you to read in advance are all shown below.

Our First Bible Study was held on Thursday 7 February when Stiubhart hosted a general discussion on the approach to the course of eight weeks and participants agreed to start with a study of Joseph in Genesis. It was also agreed to publicise the course on both Facebook and our own website.

The Planning Meeting for our course of Bible Studies was held on Thursday 24 January 2019.
