Malawi 2016

Malawi mag

The Committee has planned a number of events for 2016 as part of our general Malawi Fundraising and we all look forward to the latest visit by our Malawian friends around September time.

No one from our twinned congregation at Mpachika joined the Malawian delegation during September and St Mark’s was not heavily involved with the visit.

All of the proposals for 2016 were however actioned and you can read about them in the St Mark’s Messenger or the Archive.

The very latest news (15 June 2016) is confirmation from Lasmore Mbowta that the money raised at Margaret Donald’s Funeral Service has arrived safely at Mpachika and that it will be spent on finishing the Margaret Donald Café.  Here’s a link to read Lasmore’s Report on progress (in 2013)

Plans for 2016 include:

A Pot Luck Lunch, which in the past has proved to be popular and successful. Possible date is 26 June. To be confirmed. Quiz evening to be organised by David Yacamini and Alex McConochie. Date still to be set. A coffee morning which is booked for the 1 October. A Cheese and Wine/Ladies Night. This will be a joint project with the Malawi and Projects Committees. On the evening you will be able to start your Christmas shopping! Provisional date is 4 November.  Look out in the Messenger, Pew Leaflet on on this page for updates regarding dates, tickets etc.

Other possible fundraisers may be a Beetle Drive and a Silent Auction. Please keep an eye out for confirmed dates either in the Pew Leaflet or the next St Mark’s Messenger.
