Last night saw the second performance of "Movie Magic" by Stage Door. With a cast of just 14 and the oldest of whom was also just 14 (yesterday) this show provided entertainment with a capital "E". From the very start this young cast produced work that would not have been out of place on a professional stage. Catchy tuneful singing from some of your favourite movies and shows was matched with skillful choreography and interspersed with the comic antics of "Bob & Jim - A pair o' mannies!" Hot off the Press!
The latest news from Stage Door is that their next production "Movie Magic" will be performed on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 June 2010 at 7.30pm and featuring a Cabaret Supper at the interval. This show will see a number of new faces as well as previous performers who will present songs from the movies, TV and the world of entertainment. There is bound to be something for everyone! Further details will be available in the Pew Leaflet nearer to the performance dates and information on ticket sales (£6.00 each) will also be provided there and on the website.

The latest news from "Stage Door"
Our junior section will perform their third independent production on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th June 2009. Details will be announced in Church and printed in the Pew Leaflets. Entitled "Music and Laughter", this show will feature both, not to mention a Farmhouse Tea during the interval. Tickets are only £5.00 and are now on sale. Due to restrictions in space because of the tables required for the Tea places will be limited so get your tickets early!

I am now able to bring you some real detail about our Drama Club's junior section - Stage Door who performed their first solo piece in June 2005. "Fairytale" was a musical with a moral specially written for them by Players President, Garry Watson. It told the story of a poor street child who dreamt her way to Fairyland and finally became the Fairy Queen. Pictures from the show are in the Gallery.
Their second production was a Cabaret, "Stars in Their Eyes" based on the well known TV show but it had, as you would expect, the St Mark's twist. The first half produced a range of solo to quartet acts such as Celine Dion (Rachael Cunningham) Elvis (Keith) to Abba (both Rachaels, Keith & Mark) and The Beatles (Mark, Keith, Neil & guest drummer, Garry). After the delicious St Mark's Cabaret Supper the second half produced excerpts from High School Musical, Fame, Les Miserables, Jesus Christ Superstar and featured an Abba medley. And unlike some TV peformances by their fameous namesakes our stars all performed live!
Just to show their versatility our young people then joined up with the "oldies" to present our "Three One Act Plays and a Farmhouse Tea" in June 2008 when they presented "The Little G.I.T.S.". This was a play written (as all of them were) by Garry Watson and told the story of Miss Candy Barr, a young and inexperienced Music Teacher (Rachael Watson) trying to instill the finer points of classical music into an "uninstillable" orchestra.
The Glenshoogle Instrumental Tuition Society (GITS) would have tried the patience of a saint and it certainly tried Miss Barr's. What with the costermonger's daughter (Rachael Cunningham) still in full advertising voice in class, Andrew (Neil Yacamini) Brady's ear infection which made him totally (and probably tone) deaf and Jodie (Niamh McColl) Green's oversized (for her anyway) double bass. A hilarious performance.
