Hello from the Sunday School and YF Easter 2008 If you come down to the hall you will see that we now have a large drawing of St Mark's Church on the back wall. We plan to make this into a collage and add pictures of the congregation to show everyone that "We are the Church together". We would really appreciate it if you could add your picture to our collection. You can give your photograph to any of the YF or the teachers and hopefully by the time of our Promotion Service we will have a full St Mark's Family Album on display. From the Autumn 2007 Messenger The Sunday School and Youth Fellowship resumed on Sunday 3rd September. They would be pleased to hear from anyone who would like to join them in the Hall on a Sunday and there is a Crèche for babies and toddlers.
From the Summer 2007 Messenger Hello from the Sunday School and the Youth Fellowship!! For the past few months we have been using the new material “Seasons of the Spirit” looking at topics such as “Looking at our Faith”, “Our Beliefs” and “Making Choices”. As you know, we support Fairtrade and although we didn’t do anything to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight recently, we will be holding a Fairtrade stall at our Promotion Service on Sunday 24th June. We hope you will all come along and support us! From the Spring 2005 Messenger This session, the children in the Sunday School have been learning about Jesus and his healing. The first lessons have been about Jesus healing the paralysed man. As well as learning the story, the children have been busy making models of the paralysed man and his stretcher. They also built models of the house where Jesus was teaching and were able to lower their models through the roof just like the story. This also showed them how much effort the man's friends went to, so he could be healed by Jesus. Our next lesson will be about how Jesus helped the tax collector Zacheus. The Youth Fellowship This session, the YF have been concentrating on the principles of Fairtrade. This has involved a variety of activities from living the life of a Fairtrade Producer for a year through to holding our Fairtrade Coffee Morning. This has helped us appreciate why Fairtrade is so important to ensure a better deal for Third World Producers. We also had a very interesting talk from Monica and Kirsty McLean, a mother and daughter who have been helping out at an orphanage in Pattaya, Thailand. Their tales of the children and the circumstances which led them to be living in the orphanage helped us realise that it is everyone's Christian duty to help those less fortunate than we are. From the Autumn 2004 Messenger We are looking forward to starting our new session and to welcoming Keith Low and Rachael Watson into the YF. We would like to thank everyone who supported our Fair Trade table recently. Your generosity was far beyond our expectations. A special thanks to Lynn Low for all her help. If you enjoyed the products you bought, please spread the word. We plan to have another stall later this year and we hope to be able to beat our first donation to the Fair Trade cause. If there are any Fair Trade products you would like us to include this time, please let one of the Youth Fellowship know and we will do our best to stock it. And from the YF prior to their first Fair Trade Stall Fair Trade Stall God made the world and commanded that we look after it. Many people in developing countries are growing cocoa beans and are getting an unfair trade for them. They put a lot of time in to growing them and are getting a low amount of money for the beans. Fair Trade products are products that people of developing countries get a fair price for. The Youth Fellowship is going to be starting a Fair Trade Stall to allow more people to be aware of the problem. We are looking for your support so that we can get our stall up and running. There will be posters around the church and it will be advertised nearer the time. Thank you. Reece, Ailie, Rachael, Sarah, Mark, Helen & David. Youth Fellowship |
