John was the first Chairman of the Development Group – City Centre Grouping – Kirk of St Nicholas Uniting, Queen Street Church and St Marks. Another Silent Auction in the Hall. First visit to Malawi by Rosalyn Rennie and Margaret Donald. Stage Door, the junior section of the Drama Club, performed its first solo piece. Stage Door brings many young children to St Mark’s which is run by John’s son Garry and his wife Lynne.

2006
John and Rosalyn Rennie visited Malawi. St Mark’s continues to fund raise, this time for the new kitchen at Mpachika to enable the congregation to feed the children and raise funds for their Church. The new kitchen was named the Margaret Donald Kitchen. AYMT production of Godspell in the Church. External painting of the Church. A Flower Festival was held in the church.

The kitchen was refurbished to comply with health standards. Window grilles fitted on the outside of the Church windows, a sad reflection on society. One of several congregational outings, this time to Turriff. War Memorial Board from Rosemount Church given to St Marks. Representatives from our twinned church Mpachika, visited St Mark’s. John accompanied them on visits and we enjoyed their fellowship during services at St Mark’s.

2008
John visited Malawi with Kath McBain. St Mark’s spare Communion Silver was donated and sent to Malawi. St Mark’s became part of the group distributing the Big Issue and Dianne Morrison and Elaine Macdonald, both Elders, were featured in the magazine.
John became Moderator of the Presbytery of Aberdeen.
2009
Long Service Certificates were presented to Elders. John announced his retirement and became the 2nd longest serving Minister of St Mark’s since built in 1892. Alexander Brothers performed at St Mark’s. Adam Rose was the last baby to be Baptised by John and he is, coincidentally, the son of Lynn Rose (Yacamini) the young girl who presented Jennifer with her bouquet in 1989.
