This is the St Mark’s Church Safeguarding Page
Harm or abuse of children and adults at risk can happen anywhere – even in church communities. We have a duty to Ensure a Safe Church for All. This means protecting children and ‘adults at risk’.
The Church’s safeguarding structures aim to minimise the risk of harm occurring. If harm or abuse does occur, with appropriate support and training, it will be recognised and reported. Appropriate and timely action will be taken and this includes working with the Police and Social Work services where appropriate.
St Mark’s Church has it’s own Safeguarding Coordinator to whom all instances or suspected instances of harm or abuse should be reported immediately.
The St Mark’s Safeguarding Coordinator is Mrs Helen Burr, who is a member of the Kirk Session. Helen is a former Sunday School teacher and has been trained by the Church of Scotland Safeguarding Service to enable her to fulfill the important role she carries out.
Helen is assisted by the St Mark’s Church Safeguarding Panel which comprises our minister, Rev Diane Hobson and our joint Session Clerks, Ian and Marjorie Lord.
The Session Clerks can also be contacted via the Church Office (as above)
