Reopening of St Marks

The Scottish Government have advised that it intends to allow places of worship to reopen from 26th March 2021 subject to continued improvement in the COVID-19 statistics. Should progress suppressing the virus continue, St Marks plans to reopen on Sunday 28th March 2021. Attendance limits have been increased from 20 to 50. As previously, reopening will be within the current COVID -19 restrictions . A booking system will be in place requiring anyone who wishes to attend worship to  book a place. Our church secretary Carole, is currently working from home. Please contact Carole if you would like to attend a Sunday service. Carole can be contacted by email or telephone to book a place. Email : office@stmarksaberdeen.org.uk, telephone : 01224 640672 or mobile 07857812071. Please note Carole will be working 10am – 1pm , Monday to Friday and can be contacted during office hours to book a place. Please  contact Carole  as soon as you are able and no later than  12pm on the Friday  in the week preceding the Sunday to let us know you would like to attend to allow Carole to complete the list of attendees as required by current COVID regulations. We would also gently  remind you that we are only able  to take bookings for 1 week to be fair to all members of the congregation who may wish to attend. Unfortunately, as you will be aware we are unable to accept bookings if the church is already at its legal capacity. This also means we may have to turn folks away if they don’t have a booking and we have reached our capacity of 50.

As previously,  current guidelines require face coverings to be worn at all times in church,  there will be no singing in church and no coffee/ teas in the Hall after the service . We have also been asked to kindly remind those attending services that having secured opening of churches ahead of opening of any other venues we need to take as much care as possible in keeping everyone safe  Whilst we, understandably, wish to chat with friends who we may not have seen for many months we would ask that you do do not gather outside church to chat !

A final decision regarding reopening will be taken by Scottish Government  on Tuesday, 23rd March 2021. We will let you know if circumstances change.

We look forward to seeing you again in St Marks when you feel ready to return. Meantime, online services which so many have enjoyed will continue. Carole will continue to send out the link for these services.

With best wishes,

Helen and Dianne
